Full-Time Positions:

Park Maintenance Laborer
The Park Laborer is responsible for performing the landscaping operations of the park district grounds, and assisting with in-house construction, maintenance and repair of park district buildings, facilities and equipment. Seasonal & Part-Time Positions:

Recreation Instructors (Part-time position, year-round)
Are you looking for a flexible part-time job? We are looking for part-time recreation instructors who have experience working with children 2-12 years old to help lead youth recreation programs! We are especially looking for individuals who enjoy arts & crafts, science & nature, parent & tot classes, sports, cooking and special events. Hours are flexible! Birthday Party Leader (21 years of age or older)
Birthday Party Leaders are responsible for making the birthday parties hosted at the Grayslake Park District go off without a hitch. Birthday Party Leaders set up for birthday parties (tables and chairs), decorate the party room and set-up equipment needed for the birthday party activities. Party Leaders also lead guests in the activities, like sports, song and dance, nerf games and more! Golf Course Cashier (21 years of age or older)
Cashier needed to work 4-5 hour shifts 1-2 days per week at the Grayslake Golf Course. Applicants must be willing to pick up extra shifts for staff vacations and absences.

Junior Golf League Helper (16 years of age or older)
Help the golf instructors supervise junior players on the course on Tuesdays and Thursday from 8am-12pm, June to August.

Park Laborers (16 years of age or older)

Little League Soccer Staff (Saturdays in Fall 2018)
Must have the ability to work with children and/or adults and understand their needs. Be committed to working the length of the program on Saturdays in the fall. Must have some soccer experience, be self-motivated and responsible.

Youth Sports Instructor (Part-time position)
Responsibilities include: planning and teaching Youth Sport classes. No degree necessary. Minimum: 21 years of age. Must enjoy working with children. Days and times are flexible. Fall classes begin in September and run for 6-8 weeks. Winter classes begin in January.

Barre Instructor
We are searching for enthusiastic, friendly, and energetic Barre Instructors for classes designed at all fitness levels. Days and hours of work will include a combination of weekday, week night and weekend hours, based on the programming needs of the District.

Volunteer Opportunities

Enhance your life while helping others at the Grayslake Park District. Those who are 12 years and older are encouraged to get involved by volunteering for programs or special events. Teen Volunteer Incentive Program (VIP)

Attention junior high and high school students (ages 12-15 years)! Become a VIP through our Volunteer Incentive Program and earn rewards (like movie passes or gift cards) based on the number of hours you volunteer. Opportunities include helping at special events, coaching your favorite sport and much more. 

Gain valuable work experience and get a foot in the door if you’re interested in working at Summer Camp or in another role at the Park District.

The more you volunteer, the more cool rewards you earn!
10-29 hours: 1 movie pass
30-39 hours: $25 mall or restaurant gift card
40-49 hours: 4 movie passes
50 hours & up: 1 free program (up to a $75 value)

Athletic Coaches

Be a role model for the youth in our community by volunteering to coach a team for the Grayslake Park District. Experience in the sport is not necessary. We will provide sport specific training to set you and your team up for success. Coaches must be 16 years or older to be an Assistant Coach and 18 or older to be a Head Coach.

Throughout the year, we look for volunteer coaches for several youth sports leagues.

Volleyball A co-ed league for grades 3rd-8th with leagues in spring and fall. Sign up prior to mid-March to volunteer for the Spring season; sign up prior to mid-August to coach in the fall. Contact Brice Walsh (bwalsh@glpd.com).

Girls Recreational Softball A spring/summer program for ages 7-15 years. Sign up by end of April. Contact Brice Walsh (bwalsh@glpd.com).

T-ball – A spring/summer league for girls and boys, ages 4-7 years. Sign up by end of April. Contact Brice Walsh (bwalsh@glpd.com).

Flag Football – A fall league for girls and boys ages 5-10 years. Sign up by early August. Contact Brice Walsh (bwalsh@glpd.com).

Feeder Basketball A winter program for girls and boys, grades 5th-8th. This is a more competitive basketball program. Fill out application by early September. Contact Brice Walsh (bwalsh@glpd.com).

In-House Basketball – A winter program for girls and boys in grades 2nd-8th. Sign up to coach by end of October. Contact Tracy Putkonen (tputkonen@glpd.com).
