Enhance your life while helping others at the Grayslake Park District. Those who are 12 years and older are encouraged to get involved by volunteering for programs or special events. Special Events Assistant

The Grayslake Park District needs volunteers to serve in many capacities during special events. You may volunteer to decorate, help with food preparation, assist with crafts and games, welcome people at the door, etc. Please call Kendra Ring at (847) 223-7529 or email her at kring@glpd.com

Athletic Coaches

Be a role model for the youth in our community by volunteering to coach a team for the Grayslake Park District. Experience in the sport is not necessary. We will provide sport specific training to set you and your team up for success. Please call Brice Walsh at (847) 223-7529 or email him at bwalsh@glpd.com if you are interested in coaching any of our sports programs. Coaches must be 16 years or older to be an Assistant Coach and 18 or older to be a Head Coach.

Throughout the year, we look for volunteer coaches for several youth sports leagues.

Volleyball – We offer both spring and fall seasons, a co-ed league for grades 3-8. Sign up prior to mid-March to volunteer for the Spring season; sign up prior to mid-August to coach in the fall.
Girls Softball – A spring/summer program for ages 7-15. Sign up by end of April.
T-ball – A spring/summer league for girls and boys, ages 4-7. Sign up by end of April.
Flag Football – A fall league for girls and boys ages 5-10. Sign up by early August.

Permanent Preschool Substitute Teacher
We are looking for a substitute preschool teacher to cover for vacations and days off during the preschool year. Individual should be able to work with preschool age groups ranging from young 3s, 3-year old and 4-year old students. Candidate should possess a positive relationship with preschool students and staff members.

1. Previous work experience with small, school age children.
2. Ability to come into work with short notice.
3. Past teaching or day care experience a plus.
4. Ability to attend limited preschool staff meetings to become familiar with procedures.
5. Ability to work comfortably with preschool staff.

Barre Instructor
We are searching for enthusiastic, friendly, and energetic Barre Instructors for classes designed at all fitness levels. Days and hours of work will include a combination of weekday, week night and weekend hours, based on the programming needs of the District.

Concessions Workers
Applicants must be 15 years of age or older and must be able to work in a team atmosphere, display good customer relations skills and maintain cash controls.   Must be available to work weekends.

Little League Soccer Staff
Must have the ability to work with children and/or adults and understand their needs. Be committed to working the length of the program on Saturdays in the fall. Must have some soccer experience, be self-motivated and responsible.

Youth Basketball Officials
The Grayslake Park District is seeing energetic, positive individuals that can referee youth basketball games on Saturdays, November 2017 through March 2018 for grades 2nd – 8th.  Must be 16 years or older.  Pay scales runs from $12-$25 depending on grade level and experience.  If interested, please contact Tracy Putkonen at (847) 223-7529 or email at tputkonen@glpd.com

After School Sport Instructors
The Grayslake Park District is seeking a fun and energetic employee to work at our after-school athletic programs. The athletics include t-ball, baseball, soccer, basketball, dodgeball, and volleyball. A general knowledge of all sports is a plus.

Qualifications: Candidates must be at least 18 years old. Experience in recreation, coaching, education, or working with children is preferred. Must be able to be vocal and heard in a gym. Must have own transportation. Must be CPR/First Aid/AED certified within 2 months of hire (will train).  Must be available to work weekdays from 2-4pm.

Youth Sports Instructor (Part-time Position)
Responsibilities include: planning and teaching Youth Sport classes. No degree necessary. Minimum:  21 years of age. Must enjoy working with children. Days and times are flexible. Fall classes begin in September and run for 6-8 weeks. Winter classes begin in January.

Days/Hours: Fall 2017 and/or Winter 2018 Times vary

Compensation: $9.00 – $12.00 per hour (based on experience)

Park Ranger (Part-time Position)
Responsibilities include: driving to various parks, picking up trash, helping with set up field rental, opening and/or closing up parks.  No degree necessary. Minimum 21 years of age. Must enjoy working outdoors. Evening and weekend hours-must be flexible.
