Jones Island Beach

Jones Island Park (243 Harvey Ave) is a perfect place for a picnic lunch, a swim in Grays Lake in the summer, and all sorts of outdoor fun!

 

Beach

Jones Island Park includes a public beach on the shores of Grays Lake that’s open Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend. There is no charge to use the beach or facilities. However, no lifeguard is on duty; swim at your own risk.

Hours/Availability
The beach is open from Memorial Day to Labor Day from sunrise to sunset, as long as weather permits.

Water Quality
The Lake County Health Department monitors the water quality at the beach twice per month from May to September. For more information on water testing policies, visit https://www.lakecountyil.gov/2385/Beach-Advisory.

Boating

Grays Lake is open to non-motorized watercraft, including kayaks, canoes, paddle boats, row boats, and stand up paddle boards. Motorized boats are prohibited. The boat launch at Jones Island Park is accessible to small boats like kayaks and canoes that can be carried into the park; there is no vehicle access at the boat launch.

Parking

Parking is available in parking lot located across from the park on N Alleghany Rd. Additional parking is available at Woodview School a few blocks north on N Alleghany Rd. Street parking is prohibited.
