Jones Island Beach

Jones Island Park (243 Harvey Ave) is a perfect place for a picnic lunch, a swim in Grays Lake in the summer, and all sorts of outdoor fun!

Jones Island Park includes a public beach on the shores of Grays Lake that’s usually open Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend. There is no charge to use the beach or facilities. However, no lifeguard is on duty; swim at your own risk.

The beach will remain open after Labor Day, as long as weather permits. Please note that the Lake County Health Department stops testing water quality in September, so swimming is at your own risk.

Restore Illinois Phase 4 Guidelines
When you visit the beach, please follow social distancing guidelines and remain at least 6 feet from others. Group gatherings should be limited to 50 people or less. Thank you for your cooperation and hope you enjoy cooling off at the beach!

Water Quality
The Lake County Health Department monitors the water quality at the beach twice per month from May to September. For more information on water testing policies, visit
